I began painting more seriously after retiring from my career as an art educator.
I continued a landscape series of my cousins’ property in the Berkshires called High Meadows. It was there, as a child, that I first experienced the transformative power of nature which has continued to be a source of inspiration for me.
During the pandemic I became fascinated by painting the clothing worn by people in my family. I had saved pieces that were worn or sewn by my mother. The compositions became portraits connecting to memory and time while transcending the color, print, and texture of the material.
I am blessed with two grandchildren who have become my portrait subjects. I find their rapidly changing world to offer an abundance of painting subjects that explore my love and concern for them.
